Privacy

Your email and your picks are yours. This page lays out exactly what Sports Dispatch stores, why, and how to delete it.

The short version

We store only what we need to confirm your subscription, send your daily fixture email, let you manage or delete your preferences, and protect the service from abuse. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising profiles, and we never use AI to invent fixtures or kickoff times. The schedule always comes from sports data providers.

Data we collect

When you subscribe, we store your email address, the sports and leagues you choose, your timezone, your subscription status, and the times you signed up, confirmed, and (if you do) unsubscribed. We also store login-free links (tokens) for confirming, managing, unsubscribing, and deleting, plus a consent record: the time you opted in, your IP address, your browser (user agent), and the version of the consent wording you agreed to.

To send the daily email reliably, we keep a small record of which dispatch went out to which subscriber on which day, so a retry never sends twice. If the email provider reports a hard bounce or a spam complaint, we add that address to a suppression list (address, reason, and time) so we stop mailing it.

If you send feedback, we process the category, your message, an optional contact email, the page URL, and the Cloudflare Turnstile result, along with the technical request data needed to verify it. If screenshot upload is enabled, a screenshot may contain personal data, so only include what you are comfortable sharing.

Why we use it (lawful basis)

We use your subscription data to provide the dispatch you asked for. The lawful basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), completed by double opt-in, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing. We process security, abuse prevention, deliverability, and suppression data on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): protecting the service, preventing unwanted email, and keeping a good sender reputation. Where the law requires us to keep records, for example to prove consent, the basis is our legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).

Service providers

We use Supabase (Postgres, configured for the EU in eu-west-1) to store subscription and delivery data, Resend to send email and report bounces and complaints, and Cloudflare (Pages, Functions, CDN, and the Turnstile anti-abuse check) to host the site and protect the feedback form. Sports fixture and logo providers are queried by our server, and logo images in the email are proxied through Sports Dispatch where possible, so providers do not receive your email requests directly.

How long we keep it

Signups that are never confirmed stay pending and are used only to complete double opt-in. We do not email them beyond the confirmation request, and we aim to remove unconfirmed signups that stay pending. You can ask us to delete a pending signup at any time. Active subscription data is kept for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop sending straight away and keep your record, marked unsubscribed, until you delete it. If you confirm deletion, we permanently remove your email, preferences, consent record, and dispatch history. Suppression entries for bounces or complaints may be kept separately, because they protect deliverability and prevent unwanted mail. Contact us if you need that residual entry reviewed.

Your rights

  • Manage your sports, leagues, and timezone from the “Manage preferences” link in every dispatch.
  • Unsubscribe in one click from the bottom of any dispatch. We stop emailing you right away and keep your record, marked unsubscribed, until you delete it.
  • Delete your data (GDPR Art. 17) from the same preferences page. For your security we email a confirmation link, and once you click it your email, preferences, and consent record are permanently removed.
  • You can also request access, correction, restriction, or portability, and you can object to processing. Email us to do any of these.
  • You have the right to complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).

Cookies and local storage

Sports Dispatch does not use analytics or advertising cookies, and does not use localStorage or sessionStorage for tracking. The feedback form loads Cloudflare Turnstile only when you open it, and Turnstile is used to tell real feedback apart from automated abuse. If we ever add non-essential analytics or marketing cookies, we will ask for your consent first.
